Internal Quality Assurance qualifications

The qualification has two units, Understanding the Principles and Practices of Internally Assuring the Quality of Assessment and Internally Assure the Quality of Assessment. The first is a knowledge unit and the second is the practical application. It is expected that a learner can complete the programme within 2 months, though there is no minimum time scale a maximum of 1 year is set by us.

How is the subject delivered?

Learners will receive pre-course study material and reference guides with a workbook to complete in draft form. A 2 day course is run, based around the workbook, with group discussions and mini-presentations, mostly delivered by the learners. Practical skills are developed, to be demonstrated post-course in the workplace utilising their organisation’s existing recording systems.  Learner – IQA’s will maintain records of carrying out their role. As well as the guided study, the learners will undertake practical assessments, for which they will  monitor a MINIMUM of TWO assessors – each with a minimum of TWO learners of their own. The range of direct evidence MUST include:

• observation of practice

• examination of products of work

• questioning.

These can be supplemented, where necessary, with professional discussion, reflective accounts or witness statements.
